Maintenance: Update – DC5 update Dell MX7000 FEC

s part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, iomart will be carrying out maintenance on Tuesday, 18th March 2025. This work will involve updating the Forward Error Correction (FEC) settings between our Cisco ACI fabric and Dell MX7000 Chassis to the recommended configuration.

What will happen? The iomart networking team will update the FEC encoding on the physical interfaces connecting the Dell MX7000 Chassis and the Cisco ACI network. The network interfaces will temporarily go down and come back online after the FEC type has been updated on both ends of the links.

When will the work be carried out? The maintenance work will commence at 22:00 GMT on Tuesday 18th March 2025 and last until 23:59 GMT on Tuesday 18th March 2025.

Who will be completing the work? All updates will be carried out by our iomart network engineering team.

Will I experience downtime? Yes, customers may experience a brief network disruption of up to 1 minute while the FEC type is changed between 22:00 and 23:59 GMT.

Maintenance: DC5 Core Network

As part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, we are sending this notification as we intend to perform some planned maintenance on our Core network.

What will happen? During the planned maintenance window, some Core Routers will undergo some configuration changes, once the activity is completed some testing will be conducted.

When will the work be carried out? The maintenance work will begin at 23:00 (GMT) on Wednesday 19th of March 2025 and Thursday 27th of March and last until 03:00 (GMT) each evening.

Who will be completing the work? All of the work will be completed by our experienced iomart network and infrastructure team.

Will I experience downtime? During the maintenance window customers may notice variation in latency whilst the new configuration is brought into service. This is expected to last no longer than a few minutes.

The maintenance has been classified as medium risk.

Maintenance: Update – DC5 Vcloud (VCD) Edge Server Firmware Updates

As part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, Iomart will be carrying out maintenance works in the DC5 Vcloud (VCD) management environment. The work will specifically involve updating the Edge ESXi servers with the latest firmware.

What will happen? Our Infrastructure Team will migrate the Edge VM off the ESXi server being updated. The server will then be put into maintenance mode and the updates installed.

When will the work be carried out? The maintenance work will be completed from 07:00 to 17:30 daily from 24th to 28th March (GMT) to the following schedule.

  1. 07:00 to 07:30 complete the live migration of the Edge VM from the Edge ESXi server and enter the server into maintenance mode.
  2. 07:30 to 17:30 complete the firmware update of the Edge ESXi server.

Who will be completing the work? All maintenance activities will be completed by our Iomart infrastructure engineers.

Will I experience downtime? During the maintenance window there will be no downtime, and all Virtual Machines, workloads and services will continue to operate as normal.

There is a small risk that network connectivity into the VCD environment may be disrupted for a few seconds during the live migration of the Edge VM.
